The Mad Dog And The Mad King

I was intrigued by Bacon's painting titled "Portrait of Pope Innocent X." The solitary Pope, in his golden throne, is in a hysterical explosion of solitude, savagery, terror, anger, pain, twisting, spasms, and struggle. All of this suggests that he is mad with power.

Similarly, the character of Dog in House of Cards is interesting. This man is, as his name suggests, very loyal, always obeying his superior Frank. Frank tells him to stop drinking, and he does not drink for 14 years; Frank tells him to kill the girl he loves, Rachel, and he does it; Frank tells him to take responsibility for the murder he committed, and he acquiesces. In Dog's world, Frank seems to be a divine figure, and he obeys everything he is told to do, without complaint, and he does it well. It seems that Dog is the kind of right-hand man every leader dreams of: loyal, obedient, and willing to overcome all obstacles to achieve their goals.

The extension of this theme is an extension of previous questions developed in my paintings from the Annihilation series and those featuring the red dog. I have noticed that people can be transformed into dogs when they are domesticated by power. They can be transformed into mad dogs by the instigation of the Mad King. This leads to the total destruction and annihilation of the rules of society, the total negation and destruction of culture, total hostility and hatred, and the lowering of human dignity. Mad dogs are incompatible with all that is good, with all dignity and human rights, with all culture, and with the spiritual home built by culture. A man who has good expectations for himself and desires constantly to move towards humanity, compassion, nobility, and transcendence must, in his contemplation, seriously reflect on the illusions and actions that are contrary to his ideals and bitterly repent of all his faults and sins. For remembering sin is to tally it up and purify it. The same goes for a nation. Without a systematic reconciliation of sins, the nation will only remain forever mired in its past sins and will continue to slide uncontrollably into the abyss of evil, led by mad kings and mad dogs.
