Old Man Of The Mountain

Two extraits about the old man in the mountains:

  1. An old mountain man named Aladdin, who was a Muslim, had built a splendid garden in a scenic valley between two high mountains. This garden was crossed by rivers flowing with wine, milk, honey, and clear water, and it was inhabited by beautiful maidens. He trained brave young men, using narcotics and fabricated visions of paradise to inspire them to serve his purposes and carry out assassinations against his enemies." — from «The Travels of Marco Polo».

  2. "After indulging their desires for several days, they were returned to their original place. Once awake, they were asked what they had seen and were taught to become assassins, with the promise that if they died, they would enjoy such bliss." ---- from Liu Yu's «Account of a Western Mission».
